ALICE IN CHAINS MTV UNPLUGGED 1996 FULL CONCERTnnLegendary performance of Alice in Chains recorded on 10 April 1996 for the MTV music chain. The band perform songs from both Alice In Chains and Dirt albums as well as their critically acclaimed E.P.’s Sap and Jar Of Flies, creating new and exciting arrangements for their heavier songs while reinventing others. Visibly frail, he and band members Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney still out-performed many of the other acts that crept in front of MTV’s camera, making this one of the most legendary performances of the series. Recorded at The Brooklyn Academy of Music, the ensuing Live LP and DVD highlights the dark, moody, tar-based signature sound of AIC. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be one of the last ones they would ever do, as lead singer Layne Staley’s drug addiction was already getting the better of him. Things seemed hopeful on April 10th, 1996, when Staley reunited with the band for an MTV Unplugged show, but the comeback was ultimately short-lived: Less than three months later, on July 3rd, Alice in Chains took the stage at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, for what would be their final performance with Staley, who, in retrospect.
